Mobility
Due to the traditional Japanese construction of the temple and wooden house, a visit with a wheelchair is only possible to a limited extent and after preparation (ramp, carpet).
In case of restricted mobility, we kindly ask to register early in advance:

In the main building there is a lift and a wheelchair-accessible toilet (basement).
Guided Tours
The EKŌ Center offers, on request, private tours of the garden, temple and Japanese wooden house on a small scale guided by one of the EKŌ Center’s research staff.

In addition, public guided tours take place in the EKŌ Center on selected dates on Tue 1 pm, for which you can register accordingly.
Using the Library
Primary sources and secondary literature for scientific research in Japan, China and India from the research areas of history / cultural history, art, literature, philosophy and religion
Collection focus & special collections:
- Buddhism research, including important collections of sources (Taishō Canon, Tibetan Canon, Pali Canon, Bibliotheca Buddhica, Sacred Books of the East, etc.), some with modern Japanese translations
- Archive Hans Fischer-Barnicol: Works on intercultural religious studies research from the Institute for Intercultural Research (University of Heidelberg) including an extensive collection of unpublished manuscripts and documents
- Scientific tools (dictionaries and specialist terminological encyclopedias, biographical and bibliographical reference works) & sources, supplemented by an extensive collection of specialist publications and periodicals
